In Hong Kong, cars drive on the left while in the rest of China, they drive on the right. If you’re building a bridge between the two, you’ve got to come up with a clever way to switch lanes without disruption or accident.
Unbelievably, The 2nd largest export item from California to China is “Waste and Scrap”. For USA as a whole it comes in on 5th place, with total $7.6bn worth of rubbish shipped.
Undoubtedly for Europe the figures are similar, although most might be directed to Africa instead of China (EEA).
Never mind the moral considerations, and the damage to the local environments, what is the environmental damage of shipping that much crap around?
